I'm going to describe a series of plays that helped a team clinch a win. You tell me which NBA team you think made those plays.
Up two points with 15 seconds left, an above-average free throw shooter is fouled. He makes the first, but misses the second. The miss is rebounded by the offense and kicked back to the free throw shooter, where he is fouled once more. He makes both. Then, on the ensuing possession, a desperation three with about five seconds left is blocked and rebounded by the defense.
If you picked any team but the Chicago Bulls, you clearly have not recognized what website you are currently visiting.
Anyway, the Bulls seem to have gotten themselves back on track after a rough road trip and an embarrassing collapse at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Admittedly, wins over the Dallas Mavericks sans Dirk Nowitzki and the Philadelphia 76ers sans Andrew Bynum aren't exactly the best wins ever, but they're not the worst either.
The Bulls killed Philly inside, with Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah both notching double-doubles — Noah also had 7 assists — and Taj Gibson adding 11 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Luol Deng had one of his best games this year, putting up 25/7/7 on 10/16 from the field.
The Bulls now get a divisional back-to-back on the road, heading to Indianapolis on Tuesday to play the Indiana Pacers before heading to Cleveland for the second time this year. Both teams are currently without their best players, giving them something in common with the Bulls and the Bulls' last two opponents. The Bulls are going to need to take advantage here. A pair of division wins now would be huge down the stretch.
Player o' the Game: Luol Deng
Very tempting to go with Joakim, what with his 12/13/7 line, but he was just 6/15 from the field. Deng's 25/7/7 was great to watch, even if it came with a side helping of as much dribbling as you could watch. This was the type of game the Bulls are accustomed to getting from Derrick Rose, and it was really nice to see someone else step up in his absence. Odds are we won't see this again, but still.Tags: Carlos Boozer, Chicago, Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose, Indiana Pacers, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, NBA, Philadelphia 76ers, Taj Gibson
